New Jersey just recently passed a medical marijuana bill through the legislation. The provisions in this bill are severely strict, for instance, Patients with specified diseases such as cancer and glaucoma must demonstrate severe or chronic pain, nausea, seizures, muscle spasms or wasting syndrome to qualify. Is it not enough that these people are suffering, now they have to prove it to the state in order to get a better alternative treatment. They call this bill the “Compassionate use Act” however compassion is no were to be seen in the bill. Gov. Chris Christie, a former federal prosecutor, said he supported the concept of the bill but remained concerned that a loophole could lead to abuses. No bill or law can ever be perfect, there are always loopholes. The ability for a patient, particularly disabled patients, to grow in their own private residence is a huge benefit. To take that away would mean your forcing these sick people to have to travel to get their medicine…THIS IS WRONG

Addiction
There’s an incredible amount of things you could become addicted to; the list seems to never end. Some of these addictions, or dependencies, include; heroin, crack, sex, gambling, pharmaceutical pills, body building, diet coke, and even drunk driving. All of these are as bad as the other, and all are nearly, if not totally, unconquerable with will power alone. When an individual wants to sober up and end a dependency on a substance, he or she needs some sort of help. When someone wants to end a heroin addiction, they are usually given another drug called methadone to fill the receptors in the brain, in effect this curtails the cravings for a heroin “fix”. Although methadone is much weaker than heroin, an individual can still get the same effects if increased doses are consumed. A documentary called “methadonia” shows how easily methadone is legally obtained; and how easily addicts can up their doses anywhere from 300, to 600 mg, sometimes more. There’s alot of medication that helps stop dependencies, some work better than others, and some have unwanted side effects.
Dennis Peron is a Cannabis activist as well as a gay-activist, who testified first hand at Oaksterdam University, that cannabis had helped him stop binge drinking. He said himself that he was a serious alcoholic and if it weren’t for cannabis he would most likely still be dependent on alcohol. You might say that all he did was trade one addiction for another, however he is now a productive citizen of the United States that runs a hostel hear in San Francisco. Cannabis is a “miracle drug” and can help an array of problems, wether it be physical, emotional, or even financially; and hopefully we will be able to make it available to those who need it most.
Cannabis Health-care
Many people can benefit off of cannabis. If medical cannabis was to be legalized across the nation, it would decrease the amount of money used to purchase pharmaceuticals, and other medical substances. Cannabis is known to treat diseases and ailments, ranging from anxiety, to chronic pain. All those pills that people have been prescribed, come with dangerous, and sometimes deadly, side effects. I have an alarming amount of friends that are prescribed more than three pills. One of them is prescribed to more than five; when I went to visit him and a few other friends, he would nod out at 6-7 o clock. If the pills were replaced with naturally medicinal, cannabis flowers, I’d bet my friend would be much better off. Cannabis is known to treat diseases and ailments, ranging from anxiety, to chronic pain so it would be tremendous to his health; only problem is you wont find a dispensary in North Carolina LOL
Cannabis flowers have many different properties, including THC, CBD and CBC, and all have different effects to the human body. The human body has within an endo- cannabinoid system that dwarfs many other systems in the human body. This system is one of the biggest, however we know as much about it as we do the brain (which isn’t that much). Lets hope all goes well with the health-care bill, for there’s many people suffering without health-care or a way to pay for it.
The Obama Effect
-Eric Holder, the attorney general under president obama, confirmed at a press conference that he would no longer subject individuals who were complying with state medical marijuana laws to federal drug raids and prosecutions; this potentially leads to the same endpoint as the twenty first amendment, which repealed the federal prohibition of alcohol, which included selling and distributing.
-If your anti-medical marijuana and feel it damages the body and mind, let me just say a couple of quick, important facts. If you look at the medicinal page on this blog you will find a post describing the safety of cannabis; how cannabis does not have a known LD 50 (limit to death), or how it is physically impossible to overdose on. Unfortunately doctors prescribe dangerous pills that produce minor to severe side effects like suicidal thoughts, nausea, diarrhea, back pain and/ or skin flushing. You might say to yourself “well doctors usually prescribe these pills to people who really need them”. One of my good friends is prescribed to more than 5 pharmaceutical pills and everyday, at around 5pm, he is either nodding out or passed out on the sofa. If you have a friend or relative who has a similar problem, consult an outside physician (a doctor you never go to).
Senate Bill 420
California state legislature passed senate bill 420 in hopes of improving the “wild-west” like atmosphere that surrounded the medical marijuana movement. This law “fleshed out” a bit more about the way prop. 215 would work, requiring counties to issue identification cards to patients who sought them; the se would also come handy in police interactions. SB 420 also set minimum guidelines for how much cannabis patients could possess: eight ounces of dried cannabis plus either six mature plants or 12 immature plants. (counties could allow higher). Though silent on dispensaries, SB 420 did contain a provision that protected patients or caregivers who ” associate…in order collectively or cooperatively to cultivate cannabis for medical purposes.” Dispensaries are all announcing they are collectives or co-ops to grow and distribute within the laws of the state.
A World of propaganda
Political propaganda has been used since the forties to portray or persuade someone or something as something else. Long has this political technique worked with much success; breaking some people, yet at the same time making others. Many things have fallen pray to propaganda in the last 100 years including jewish people, black America, countless politicians, political activists, arabs, muslims, mexicans, and among other things, cannabis or “marijuana”. Harry Anslinger, former commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Narcotics, and J. Edger Hoover, former Director of the F.B.I along with Former President Richard “tricky Dick” Nixon constructed an ungodly like facade around cannabis and anything that had to do with it. They were down right crooks highjacking the U.S government to suit there own interests and they would go to the extreme to rid of any opposition.
Unfortunately when the watergate scandal unfolded the criminal was pardoned and went free. Since there was no punishment there was no lesson learned; and being so, history was doomed to repeat itself. Former President George W. Bush has had reign over the U.S. government for the past eight years. He and his cronies have had our government in the palm of their hand; literally tricking, lying to the people and congress to go to war with iraq and using our army and brave soldiers for their personal needs. Using 9/11, my birthday, as a propagandist tool to put fear into the american people; this was especially obvious when Former mayor of New York and 2009 Presidential Candidate Rudy Juliani gave a speech at the 2008 RNC convention. But now things are changing, minds are opening and brains are thinking. 14 years after tupac said we weren’t ready for a black president and 13 years after his murder a black president has been elected by the american public for the first time in U.S. history. President Barack Hussein Obama won in a landslide fashion against republican opponent Senator John McCain. President Obama is a liberal minded harvard graduate, a former community organizer from the impoverished areas of chicago and a realist who has cautious optimism. When asked question regarding personal experiences he gave an honest, dignified answer; he said himself that he inhaled when he consumed cannabis for the first time because “that was the point”.
The Situation
There are countless people who have ailments, wether it be depression, aids, or multiple sclerosis, that can be treated with cannabis. The only problem associated with cannabis is the accessibility; these people have to go through hell to get their medicine, they have to put themselves in dangerous situations every time they want some medicine. They have to meet a sketchy dealer who’s always out to hustle you; try to sell the least amount of bud for the most amount of money. The danger doesn’t stop there, even worse the patient has to worry about the police finding the cannabis. Cannabis is a schedule one drug, which, under the federal government, means it has no medicinal value, and is extremely addictive. This law is still in effect, when at the same time more than 10 states have recognized the medicinal value of cannabis.
Let Us Pay Taxes!!!
Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger was and is currently being offered one billion dollars by a group of medical cannabis growers and distributors that go by the name of LetUsPayTaxes. If accepted, the one billion dollars would help out a deteriorating state economy and increase the state budget. Regulation and taxation of cannabis could produce up to six billion dollars in additional tax revenue, according to economic studies linked from their web site LetUsPayTaxes.com. This is one more reason to not only tax and regulate cannabis, but to end this ongoing “war on drugs”.

Ammiano’s Landmark Bill
California assemblyman Tom Ammiano (D-SF) announced, on Feb 23, the introduction of AB 390; a bill to tax and regulate cannabis like alcohol and cigarettes. At a San Francisco press conference, Ammiano stated that “with the state in the midst of a crises, the move to tax and regulate cannabis like alcohol and tobacco only makes sense”.West Coast Leaf, volume 2, No. 1, spring 2009, Pg 1. The Bill would allow licensed producers and distributors to market their product to responsible adults who are over 21, similar to the sale and regulation of alcohol. If AB 390 passes it will open the flood gates to the cannabis industry; it will reveal that cannabis and the major industry that surrounds , will have the potential to boost americas economy by generating tax revenue and by creating mass amounts of seriously needed jobs.
