Curing OGPK 10/09

Sunday, October 11th, 2009 | Author: admin

The curing process begins after about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks, depending on the soil texture and watering schedule for the last few weeks of flowering. This grow took about 6 days to get 3  quarters of the way dry; at this point it would be best to put it in a sealed container, preferably glass, and keep it in there over the next 2 to 3 weeks. I took the harvest from the drying box and put it into a jar I purchased at the world market; I Didn’t want to squeeze my harvest into a small jar, so I got a really big one. The harvest weighed out on 10/11/09 to 50 grams, which is just under two ounces. The curing stage is about to begin, your going to see the overall color begin to lighten. The smell, which unfortunately you will not be able to experience, is going to become more of a pungent odor. As of right now, the smell possesses a woodsy smell with hints of citrus, which, the citrus odor, will increase over the next few weeks.

10/3/09 Harvest

This Plant had a perfect photoperiod with even daylight and darkness, 12 hours daylight/ 12 hours darkness. The last grow was immature and smaller in size due to the time of planting. The seeds were sowed a bit too early, this was going on the advice of a native grower/ friend who knew the area as well as the weather. However he wasn’t positive about the local photoperiod; how long the days and nights are. This grow was planted in early august and was ready by early october, and the nugs this girl produced are rock solid! They appear extremely green but they will loose the dark hue and take on a much lighter green color after drying.

FULL FLOWER OGPK 9/2009

She has been in full flower a little over one month now; usually the flowering period lasts anywhere from 55 days to 1 1/2-2 months, sometimes more, sometimes less. The last grow was no where close to the girth and overall weight this grow is accumulating. There is an obvious reason for that, the last grow was sown a bit to early for an outdoor grow. The photoperiod in the bay area early may threw late july was not suitable for a cannabis plant to reach max potential, therefore stunting the plants growth. Remember this fact, SUMMER IS FOR SEXING, and you will have a rough estimate of the time period for your grow.

When the leaves begin to yellow it means there is a nitrogen deficiency; this is perfect. You see nitrogen produces chlorophyll, and chlorophyll creates that green, grassy type taste. Properly flushed cannabis, when smoked, is supposed to burn with consistency; and not supposed to crackle and/or hiss when sparked. If the bud your smoking crackles and has a ‘spark’ affect when lit, it means one of two things. One, the bud is laced with something for whatever reason. Two, the cannabis wasn’t grown, flushed and dried properly and has an abundance of chlorophyll. In the third and fourth and sometimes fifth week of flowering, flush the soil with clean water so steady stream of water drains through the bottom. This washes out all the toxic salt build up and any other harmful stuff that builds up in the soil. The last two weeks water only 2-3 times a week to start the drying process pre-maturely. This OGPK grow has maybe two more weeks left and it will  be ready to harvest.

OG purple kush clone 8/25/09

This purple OG Kush clone was given to me by a friend in need of some help. When I first brought her to the garden, she was over-heated, and consequently dehydrated: his grow suffers in a rather hot micro-climate, which caused the leaves to dry up and wilt. Eventually, the stress forced the pores to close up and prevent the plant from evaporating any water, which was a direct cause for the decrease in growth. Once in my custody, however, she soon recuperated at a remarkable pace; though, I couldn’t document it since a friend still had my camera… oh well :)

Harvest-6/25

Thursday, June 25th, 2009 | Author: admin

This was a bountiful harvest with health fully formed flowers. Luckily the dark period was long enough for the flowers to form. The dark period is now 8 hours soon to be seven, seven-thirty. The process for harvesting is quite simple; first you should trim the most-outer leaves along with the stem. When cutting the stem be careful not to cut the flower stem. Some people like to pre-trim the plant then hang the whole thing upside down and trim after it dries. This technique is okay, however the harvest will take longer to dry. It is best to trim immediately so the harvest will dry evenly and easily. After trimming the outer most leaves, it is time to trim the leaves that stick out of the actual flower. It is best to cut the majority of leaf off the flower because it helps it dry. When trimming is done collect all the trimmings; I recommend trimming over some sort of bag to lessen the clean up post harvest. Take the buds and tie them with a string and hang them upside down. Harvest is complete…

Flowering-6/16

She has been flowering for more than two weeks now, and the pistils are showing signs of maturity. They are turning tangerine orange at the tips; soon the majority will start to color down to the calyx. The days are starting to become longer with nights beginning at 9:00 pm. Although the days are getting longer the plant has long enough period of uninterrupted darkness to continue strong flower and trichome development.
