I’ve been out of town for the past week but a friend has kindly been watering her every other day, and she remains to be healthy and strong like the day I left. The plant has now reached the 17th node and is starting to flower; pistils are starting to protrude from the “armpits” of the plant. This is naturally occuring due to the photoperiod. Usually cannabis plants flower in northern california around July or august, however the OG PURPLE KUSH seems to be flowering unusually early. When magnetized you can see the trichomes starting to build up; eventually they will sprout up and form a have cylinder shape at the top similar to that of a mushroom. These trichomes will be the tool to read the maturity of the plant; the not only determines the maturity, but also the effect of the strain.

Bending: week 1
the main stem has turned upright and is now molded in the position it was put in. Now you can see the lower shoots already showing signs of an increase in energy.
Cannabutter Recipe
This is cannabutter. It is fairly easy to make, you just need to have the ingredients.
Cannabutter Recipe
STEP 1: Melt .5 kg of any butter in a saucepan
STEP 2: Add several ounces of finely sifted cannabis or several grams of keif or hash oil (do not use hash). If extra potency is wanted, you can repeat step 2,3, and 4 only when using the finely sifted cannabis. If using kief or hash oil you can just add as much as you want the first time because it is extremely small and melts quick so the room for more is always available.
STEP 3: Simmer on a medium-low temp and keep a close eye on it while stirring gently the entire time. when the butter takes on a green appearence, it is time for step 4
STEP 4: If using finely sifted cannabis you will need to strain all the leaf and flower material out of the cannabutter. To do this you will need a 130-185 micron screen and a sanitized bucket (metal recommended). Pour the cannabutter through the screen into the bucket. There will be lumps of soggy bud material; take a spoon or spatula and push the material firmly against the screen so the remaining butter soaked in the material doesn’t get forgotten. Take all the “green” butter and store in a plastic conatiner and keep it refrigerated.
*****do not throw the soggy bud material into the garbage…make a “green fairy”: simmer vodka or gin in a clean sauce pan. Throw the leafy material into the pan and let sit for 2-3 min.(*keep on low-medium) using a kitchen funnel, pour the concoction into a shot glass and add a tiny pinch of sweetener and enjoy. ***EXTREMELY POTENT DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN WHAT IS NEEDED***
Ammiano’s Landmark Bill
California assemblyman Tom Ammiano (D-SF) announced, on Feb 23, the introduction of AB 390; a bill to tax and regulate cannabis like alcohol and cigarettes. At a San Francisco press conference, Ammiano stated that “with the state in the midst of a crises, the move to tax and regulate cannabis like alcohol and tobacco only makes sense”.West Coast Leaf, volume 2, No. 1, spring 2009, Pg 1. The Bill would allow licensed producers and distributors to market their product to responsible adults who are over 21, similar to the sale and regulation of alcohol. If AB 390 passes it will open the flood gates to the cannabis industry; it will reveal that cannabis and the major industry that surrounds , will have the potential to boost americas economy by generating tax revenue and by creating mass amounts of seriously needed jobs.
