April 11, vegetative stage

The weather has been cold for the past few days which has caused the main stem to turn purple. The Cannabis plant is one of the most fastest growing plant known to man, its incredibly durable and can be grown  in almost any location where there is soil, water and sun. There isn’t much you can do to avoid the purpling of the plant when it is growing out doors. The only aid to this would be to cover it with a bed sheet or a grow tent. If your plant turns more than 20% purple, you will have to warm it up by covering it. If this was the situation you would have to cover the plant to secure the warmth; cut 4 holes around a deer park water jug and cover the plant with that. If there are multiple plants, it is easy to setup a tepee type tent over the grow.

The Vegetating season

April is the month to plant seeds or move clones outdoors. If you are growing clones you should have kept them under florescent bulbs to enhance root growth. This happens because florescent bulbs have a light spectrum of blue and white. They also have a huge reduction in heat intensity; this is extremely good for clones because the less heat a light fixture produces, the less the plant tends to stretch. If you are growing from seed you should not use artificial lighting for the early stages of vegetating, the sun will naturally grow strong, healthy roots. Before sowing the seed you will need to germinate it. There are various technigues for doing this but from experience the way I do it tends to work well. To do this you will need a paper towel, a ziplock bag, water, and a dark dry place to leave it. Wet the towel until it is MOIST NOT DRENCHED then place the seed on the paper towel and carefully fold the towel gently until the seed is inside the towel. try to keep the seed in the center of the towel; fold so it is equally covered on all sides. Place the towel inside the bag and inflate it, then close it and store in a dark dry place. Depending on the seed, it will take around 2-5 days for it to germinate. Check in the morning and late at night to see if it popped; you dont want to plant the seed when the tail is more than half an inch out of the shell. Although you can plant it, it is best to plant the seed right when the shell pops because this is when it is at its prime. Till the soil with about 1.5-2.0 ft to allow the plants to fully flourish and reach maximum height. place seed half an inch in the ground, to deep it will struggle to surface, to high it will struggle to anchor to the soil bed. Plan to sow seeds early april for this is the beginning of the long summer night season.
